Position Summary

The Onsite Registration Specialist ("ORS") will perform registration processes by working directly with patients to gather demographics and insurance information. The ORS will interact with patients, guardians, and other authorized patient representatives during and after encounters occurring at the hospital. This position will be responsible for working closely with patients gathering relevant information required for bill processing related to the following claim type: Motor Vehicle Accident claims. This role will be located onsite in Chattanooga, TN.

Key Responsibilities

  • Obtains required medical, financial, and insurance information from patients or their guardians.
  • Accurately and efficiently completes registration for new and existing patients.
  • Verifies patient demographic information.
  • Ensures that all information forms are entered accurately and thoroughly.
  • Enters data into hospital software system and checks to ensure the accuracy.
  • Explain processes and forms to patients prior to securing signatures and ensures that all documents are properly signed and witnessed as required.
  • Performs administrative functions to ensure the department operates according to policies, procedures and protocols.
  • Work closely with the Emergency and Outpatient registration supervisors, One-call services and the Financial Counselors, in order to maintain an excellent work environment and error free admission.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1 - 3 years of experience working in healthcare registration.
  • Must have a high degree of customer service skills in order to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, physicians and care teams.
  • Demonstrates problem-solving abilities and high attention to detail.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with patients, peers and superiors on a daily basis.
  • Must have ability to think quickly and react professionally.
